Job Description

Athens Technical College in Athens, Georgia seeks a part-time Adult Education instructor to teach basic skills and GED preparation classes on Monday and Thursday evenings Center in Oconee County, Georgia. The pay rate is $18.00 per hour.

This position requires providing instruction in academic areas (reading, writing, English, and mathematics) for all assigned students.  Instruction is based on the individual needs of each participant as measured by pre-testing.  For those students who demonstrate readiness for GED preparation, instruction includes writing skills and social studies in addition to appropriate levels of mathematics, English, science, and reading.  The instructor will assist with student recruitment and retention.  The instructor will be responsible to turn in attendance and testing information on a monthly basis.  The instructor will be responsible for having knowledge of GALIS (Georgia Adult Learner Information System). 

This position requires being flexible working at other campuses/centers in the 10-county service area if needed and being flexible with the work schedule if needed.

Skills/Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

The minimum of a baccalaureate degree is required.  The candidate should be able to relate to students at varying instructional levels.  Proficiency in teaching the subjects on the GED exam, which include math, writing, literature, science, and social studies is a must.
