Job Description
An Account Executive manages daily servicing of client accounts, performs various writing and research assignments and oversees public relations and administrative initiatives implemented by Account Coordinators. An AE is also expected to perform media relations, writing of press materials and management of outside vendors. 
 
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
 
Client Service Coordination:
 
o Assist with new business prospects as needed to include conducting research, assisting with presentations prep and production schedules, etc.
o Assist in the development and implementation of client programs.
o Demonstrate knowledge of clients’ business and be fully informed of how the account is administered at Kaplow.
o Manage spokesperson relationships on behalf of clients.
o Establish and build strong relationships with key consumer and trade media. 
o Gain and maintain client confidence in ability to both execute and anticipate issues requiring strategic input.
o Travel occasionally for client meetings and special/media events.
o Actively participate in meetings and conference calls, speaking frequently with confidence, be able to present ideas and concepts effectively. 
o Serve as liaison/agency representative with outside vendors.
o Identify opportunities and recommend solutions/actions to improve client service and satisfaction.
o Working with team leadership, proactively identify and resolve issues.
 
Strategy Development:
 
o Develop strong media pitches that meet client objectives for simple and complex placements.
o Monitor publications and the Internet for industry, client and PR stories and trends.
o Draft first version of press releases, client memos and other materials.
o In consultation with supervisor, successfully pitch and place media stories.
o Implement PR initiatives including media interviews/tours, VNR/SMT, and ANR/RMT, production, brochures, newsletters, surveys, special events, etc.
 
Administrative and Report Writing:
 
o Create written work including client reports that adheres to the highest level of professionalism (typo and   error-free).
o Attend account and team meetings, prepared and ready to take notes, contribute    creatively and follow through on all commitments made in the meetings.
o Meet all deadlines and meet regularly with supervisor to provide updates on the status of all assigned responsibilities.
o Oversee external mailings.
o Support senior staff with various projects and activities.
o Handle work that falls outside of your official job description, when necessary, including aspects of the AC position or temporary assignments involving other accounts.
 
Performance Management and Staff Development:
 
o Meet and communicate with supervisors on a regular basis to ensure that coaching, prioritization, problem solving and resource needs are being met. (Managing Up) 
o As appropriate, manage one or more employees on the AC level. 
o Meet regularly with reports to provide targeted developmental feedback, delegate assignments and address issues/concerns/ workloads of employees supervised.
 
New Business Development 
 
o Assist with new business process as needed including research, production schedules, presentation production, etc.
 




Skills/Requirements

An Account Executive should have mastered all of the position requirements of an Account Coordinator, plus:

• Two-Three years of public relations experience

• Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, business or related discipline

• Ability to demonstrate initiative and strategic planning skills

• Strong verbal and written communications skills, including an ability to submit copy free of grammar/syntax errors and typos

• Goal-orientation

• Creative problem-solving skills

• Understanding of media types and functions

• Aptitude to communicate clearly with supervisors and team members at all levels
