Job Description

Athens Technical College in Athens, Georgia seeks an Instructor to assist in the Manufacturing Operations Specialist department.

The successful applicant will be expected to implement course materials that support stated initiatives and use appropriate practical techniques to provide students with the knowledge needed to achieve the learning outcomes for each of the courses offered.

Duties of the instructor include using discipline appropriate teaching and assessment techniques in classroom, laboratory, and online settings; maintaining student records; advising students regarding program requirements and career goals; participating in college recruitment and retention efforts; and assisting the program chair as needed.

Skills/Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

The competitive applicant will have at least the following:  An Associates Degree in a related field of Manufacturing Operations Technology from a regionally accredited Public or Private institution and considerable recent experience in manufacturing processes and operations (at least three years within the past seven); and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

The desired candidate will have at least the following:  A Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Industrial Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Operations, Logistics, Systems Engineering, Systems Engineering Technology or Mechatronics Engineering Technology with an extensive amount of manufacturing process and operations knowledge including safety requirements in manufacturing environments, mechanical fundamentals, blueprint reading, measurements, pneumatics and hydraulics systems, robotics systems, electrical fundamentals, manufacturing automation, fasteners, bearings, seals, lubricants, computer networks, computer systems for manufacturing, computer operating systems and manufacturing processes and operations ; some teaching experience, preferably at the post-secondary level; and active participation in appropriate professional and occupational organizations.
