The Application Engineer will report to the Application Engineering Manager of the Optical Connectivity Apparatus business and may be assigned to different projects as business needs dictate.  The position is located in Duncan, S.C.

 

This individual will provide technical support to a specific market or Customer for a product/group of products, which include creating application notes, instruction manuals and conducting training. He/she initiates NPR/NPL processes; supports RFx responses and product development activities. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
 

  • Provide pre - and post - sales technical support to Sales, Customer Service Representatives and Customers
  • Conduct product training both internally for company associates and externally for Customers, Sales Agents and Representatives
  • Create application notes and instruction manuals for products
  • Initiate NPR and ECR processes
  • Lead RFx response efforts
  • Adhere to and promote the environmental, health & safety policies of AFL.
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

 

 

Skills/Requirements
  • BS Degree in Mechanical, Optical, Industrial or Electrical  Engineering 
  • 0-3 years experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment is a plus
  • Familiar with Engineering/Consulting/Network Services companies servicing Independent/Rural/Competitive-Local-Exchange Carriers is a plus
  • Familiar with FTTx technologies
  • Fiber optic industries experience a plus
  • Travel 50% of the time
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment assessments, background & reference checks
