Organization Summary:

Since becoming an independent international organization in 2002, BBYO has built a powerful platform of professionals, volunteers and teens who are capable of delivering a wide menu of compelling experiences developed internally and with partners. The number of teen participants has tripled to more than 36,000, its national staff has grown to over 100 professionals, and its budget has grown to over $20 million. During the next five years BBYO will fully leverage this platform by offering clearly defined learning objectives, more program experiences, more opportunities to connect and more substantive tools to measure impact, ultimately sending a more passionate generation of young Jews to campus and young adulthood.

The BBYO Mid-America Region – Kansas City Council (MAR – KC) has been growing stronger each year and is now serving over 400 teens annually, which includes over 230 total members of AZA and BBG, and another 180+ teens involved through BBYO Connect middle school and other community-wide programming. There is a great deal of structure and tradition associated with the program, and we are seeking an energetic individual who will help continue to grow and strengthen Mid-American Region – Kansas City Council BBYO. 

Position Summary: 

  • The Program Director will report directly to the Midwest Director of Field Operations (DFO), with additional support from the Midwest Associate Director of Community Engagement and Midwest Director of Jewish Enrichment. 
  • The Program Director will hire, train, and supervise a part-time BBYO Connect middle school staff person.

 

  • Inspire and support Jewish teens by creating leadership development opportunities and serving as a Jewish role model/experiential educator.

 

  • Work with teens in AZA & BBG to develop innovative programs that engage teens socially, culturally, communally and intellectually and reflect the diversity of Jewish life, including: Israel, philanthropy, current events, community service, recreation, education and Shabbat.

 

  • Coordinate and implement annual council / regional events such as J-Serve, Regional Board trainings, conventions, and more (with support of the Midwest D-Team and other MAR Council Directors).

 

  • Build collaborative partnerships with Jewish and secular community organizations (e.g., secular high schools, local JCC, Federation, etc.) and reach out to the entire community to engage new teens in BBYO.

 

  • Enhance BBYO’s community visibility and teen involvement through targeted regional marketing

 

  • Responsible for oversight of MAR – KC hosted Regional Convention and event logistics (such as facility usage and contracts, transportation, staffing, meals, budget, supplies, etc.)
  • Work closely with Midwest D-team, and MAR – KC Regional Board on annual strategic regional planning and calendar, setting goals and objectives, and following regional and organizational priorities.
  • Provide guidance and communication to all community stakeholders to adhere to BBYO policies, rules and regulations.
  • Actively promote and attend BBYO immersive summer and year-round programming

Attend hub / system-wide professional development opportunities / events (i.e –Hub meetings, Staff Conference, International Convention, etc)
