Job Description

 

FOIA Analyst

**CANDIDATES WITHOUT EXPERT KNOWLEDGE OF FOIA AND RELEVANT FOIA WORK HISTORY WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED**

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • At least 4 years specialized experience with Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)
  • Expert knowledge of the FOIA and its amendments and PA experience
  • Must have active Secret clearance, or above
  • Experience with Submitters' Notice and FOIA exemption (b) (4)
  • Exceptional case management talent
  • FOIA Xpress experience
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Knowledge of legal interpretations of the FOIA as it affects exemptions and release of documents
  • Knowledge of reporting requirements under FOIA and the OPEN Government Act
  • Good communication skills demonstrated by written and oral experience, qualifications, and education
  • Demonstrated analytical skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Strong client interaction skills
  • Previous experience with redacting software
  • Prior military experience a plus
  • Ideal candidate will have FOIA/PA experience with the Dept. of Treasury

Scope:

  • Preparing responses to FOIA requests
  • Reviewing records for responsiveness
  • Reviewing and excising documents
  • Performing case quality assurance reviews, creating Vaughn Indices
  • Coordinating processes with other stakeholders and Programs
  • Preparing final response packages
  • Providing guidance to government officials as needed on correct FOIA processing and compliance with statutory regulations
  • Responding to changes in processing requirements by implementing changes to SOPs
  • Facilitating responses to Congressional FOIA inquiries
  • Preparing case files including Declarations and Vaughn Indexing
  • Coordinating responses with General Counsel 

Work to be performed on site in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
