Job Description

Georgia Military College seeks a full-time, Biology faculty member for the Fairburn campus. This position within Academic Affairs will report directly to the department chair of Natural Sciences. GMC is on the quarter system. This person teaches eighteen (18) credit hours of biology courses (with labs) per the four main quarters (Fall 1, Fall, Winter and Spring), , committee work and other duties as assigned. . Applicant must be willing to teach day, evening, and/or weekend courses. Faculty members have the option of teaching in the summer quarter when courses are available. GMC focuses on providing learner-centered education that is active and engaging. Faculty members prepare students to transfer to a four-year institution to complete their liberal arts track. Salary and title will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.


The successful candidate must possess a Master's degree in biology or hold a Master’s degree and have 18 semester or 30 quarter hours in graduate biology courses. Previous teaching college experience, knowledge of learner-centered education, and experience using a learning management system, such as Moodle, Blackboard, or WebCT is preferred. This position is a non-tenure track, 12-month renewable appointment.  The ideal candidate will be able to teach some or all of these courses: Survey of Biology, Medical Terminology, Environmental Studies, Animal Behavior, Intro to Pharmacology, Pharmacology I, Pharmacology II, Pharmacology III, Marine Biology, General Biology I, General Biology II, Marine Biology, Human Anatomy & Physiology I, Human Anatomy & Physiology II, General Botany, General Zoology and Microbiology.

GMC-Fairburn occupied its new campus in Fairburn in late 2008 and is experiencing strong growth in enrollments.
