Facilities Manager - Helena, AR

 

About KIPP Delta Public Schools:

The mission of KIPP Delta Public Schools is to create and support schools that empower students from underserved communities to develop the knowledge, skills, and character traits necessary to pursue a college education and a life of value, joy, and integrity.

We are a growing network of schools offering a free, college-preparatory education to children in the Arkansas Delta. Across our four schools in Helena and Blytheville, we currently serve over 1,120 students and 80 alumni.

 

Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Facilities Manager is to ensure that all facilities meet the needs of our Team and Family, and that the work undertaken towards this goal is achieved with speed, cost efficiency, and high quality. The Facilities Manager will be responsible for all aspects of facility repair, maintenance, improvement, and safety for 100,000 square feet of facility space.  The Facility manager will report to the Managing Director of Operations and will be accountable to School Leaders.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

Ensure the daily maintenance of all facilities, including the quick identification and repair of all facility issues:

  • Implement and maintain an organized work order system, including repairs and preventative maintenance
  • Manage outside vendors to the completion of work orders with speed, cost efficiency, and high quality
  • Manage contracted custodial services to the completion of their service agreement with consistent quality

 

Collect and maintain information that will better allow KIPP Delta to meet its facility needs:

  • Implement and maintain an organized purchasing and inventory management system
  • Implement and maintain an asset tracking system
  • Implement and maintain building statistics

 

Support regional efforts towards capital improvement and large repair projects:

  • Assist the COO with pre-construction and/or major repair work walkthroughs
  • Coordinate all project elements: contracts, change orders, inspections, permits, certificates of insurance, etc.
  • Provide construction and large repair work progress reports on a regular basis
  • Collect, assemble, organize, and file close-out documents for all large repair and/or capital improvement projects

 

Provide consistently excellent customer service:

  • Proactively anticipate needs and develop systems to prevent facility problems before they occur.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with all customers, which includes School Leaders, Office Managers, and the Athletic Director.
  • Serve as the primary responder and resolution coordinator for facility related issues during and outside of the regular school day.
Skills/Requirements

 

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • At least 3-5 years professional work experience.
  • At least 2 years successful experience in facility or project management related role.
  • Experience in an entrepreneurial, growing nonprofit, public, or business organization.
  • K-12 education experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated success providing superior customer service.
  • Organized planner and project manager with proven ability to multi-task, take initiative, prioritize effectively, and deliver for multiple stakeholders on deliverables and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; comfort with learning new computer programs and systems.
