IBM Websphere Engineer with practical hands on knowledge of IBM Websphere Application Server and Unix/Linux and is capable of installing, configuring, and testing software in the GCSS-AF environment.
Provide expertise with IBM WebSphere global security setup and configuration to include certificate generation and installation.
Provide expertise and potentially hands-on support the installation and configuration of Websphere in a new data center environment.
Configuration will include the setup of services in the new environment to mirror existing environments located in Dayton, OH.
Analyze issues and implement the solutions to bring the development/test/pre-production environment into the same configuration as the production environment.
Skillful at identifying and resolving environment and deployment problems for applications that have been deployed using developer provided documentation.
Other duties may include but not limited to the following:
Monitoring the operational environments (development, test, pre-production, production)
Tracking Webshpere patches, updates, upgrades and bug clearances (this includes OS updates)
Monitor and assess system scalability, availability and stability
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related engineering discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 9 years of professional experience; or 7 years of professional experience with a related Master’s degree.
Must be a US Citizen and be able to successfully obtain a SECRET clearance (w/SSBI)
Considered an emerging authority.
Must be an effective communicator both oral / written.
A strong team player, demonstrated mentoring skills to facilitate knowledge with junior resources
Must demonstrate drive, initiative, and take ownership of tasks
An appropriate Computing Environment certification per DoDD 8570.01

Application Installation & Management Experience
Red Hat Linux
Experience in Data Center Operations
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented environment
Fluent in Microsoft Office Products to include MS Word; MS Excel; MS Project; and MS PowerPoint
Experience with performance tuning IBM WebSphere JVMs.
Experience with load testing applications.
Demonstrate a holistic understanding of Data Center Operations (i.e. Production operations, Server, Storage, Network, Data Base Mgt., Systems Mgt., Helpdesk, DR/Business recovery practices etc.).
Server Platform Technology skills (Unix/Wintel - Sun/IBM etc.)
Understanding of the GCSS Data Services environments is a plus, but not required.
Experience with Oracle (10g, 11g) is a plus, but not required
