Position: Technician I

 

Job Summary:  AFL Network Services has an immediate opening for Level I Technicians in the Canton, OH area.  A Technicians will install with direct supervision: cable pathway systems, firestop systems, various electronic components, various cable that includes but is not limited to: twisted pair cable, coax, power limited tray cable, stranded cable and solid conductor low voltage cable. Cable installation includes: placement, termination, testing, labeling and documentation .  Local candidates preferred.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Install cable pathway systems (cable trays, cable racks, J-hooks or D-rings).
  • Install, terminate, test, label and document horizontal, backbone and other cables.
  • Dress and route cable into telecommunications closets, modular furniture and other work area outlets.
  • Build out telecommunication and equipment rooms.
  • Firestop various types of cable penetrations.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and document test results for cabling.
  • Learn  ANSI/TIA/EIA cabling standards and the National Electric Code.
  • Understands, adheres to, and promotes the Environmental, Health & Safety policies of AFL Telecommunications.
  • Perform other duties as needs arise.

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent. (Vocational/Technical/Business School strongly preferred.)

  • Ability to read Blue Prints
  • Ability to travel overnight
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Basic computer skills.
  • The ability to think critically and problem solve.
  • The ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • The desire to become proficient and increase profitability.
