GES seeks a Site Operations Manager for our Buffalo area Cheektowaga, NY office.
The Site Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing an established 12 person office that consists of: Field Technicians, Geologists, Environmental Scientists, Engineers, and Administrative Support staff.
Our candidate must possess the skills necessary for proven success in client satisfaction, business development, office operations, financial management, personnel management, office technical excellence, and the support and execution of all corporate programs, policies, and procedures.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Oversees office financials including: profitability, cash flow, growth, meeting revenue projections, evaluating budgets vs. plans, analyzing cost control efficiencies, reducing variances, and accounts receivable
Ensures that operational framework is maintained to meet external/internal client requirements and makes sure that operating methodologies are incorporated to address scheduling, quality control deadline adherence, manpower allocation, operating expenses, and staff productivity
Oversees personnel management, which includes: ensuring that all performance reviews are conducted promptly and effectively, handling or giving guidance to handle conflict resolution, providing consistent and regular communication/guidance to staff, conducting staff meetings, offering training/guidance opportunities, and managing organizational staffing to create a harmonious team approach
Ensures that the local office possesses the necessary technical skills and licenses to achieve project specific goals, may provide senior review and approval to project data, documents and deliverables to ensure that technical, regulatory requirements, and goals are adhered to, as well as, ensures company and client QA/QC standards are met
Ensures the implementation of business development initiatives through personal efforts and Sr. staff support, which includes: creating business development strategies, leveraging current client relationships to expand existing portfolios, identifying new local business opportunities, pursuing bids and/or opportunities, and participating in monthly strategic business development calls
Regularly engages clients to ensure that the local office’s performance exceeds expectations; actively participates in client meetings and project review meetings, and maintains a clear understanding of client programs and requirements
Makes sure that all office team members adhere to client and GES H&S standards and all Company Policies and Procedures and directs local H&S officer to ensure that H&S related goals are achieved
Must have the ability to confidently interact and lead discussions with internal and external clients
A B.S. Degree in Geology, Engineering or an applicable scientific discipline and at least 12+ years of related experience or a M.S. Degree with 10+ years of related experience. Must have environmental petroleum industry experience; industrial industry experience is a plus.
Business development experience to include, but not limited to: expanding existing clients, leveraging relationships, pursuing bid opportunities in local strategic markets, and attending and/or presenting at industry meetings
Working knowledge of the regulatory requirements in NY
Must be a leader, with attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task
Must possess excellent communication, time management, financial, organizational, problem solving, assessment, technical writing, analytical and coaching skills
Excellent employee relations skills and the ability to identify, address, and resolve issues in a timely manner is required
Previous experience managing an environmental consulting office is preferred, but not required
Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE) certification is a plus
