Job Description

The Front Desk Clerk will be responsible for:

  • Greeting patients, checking patient in/out, schedule appointments, and be aware of alert notes in the system.
  • Verify that appropriate forms are up to date and completed.  Scan copies of insurance card as needed.  Verify and scan proper ID.
  • Communicate with other departments as needed.
  • Collect co-pays, deductible, co-insurances and previous balances and post/log correctly and balance at the end of the day.
  • Download transcription and mail out.
  • Responsible for cash box.
  • Prepare charts for next day appointments.
  • Must have ability to multi-task.
  • Able to handle heavy patient interaction.
  • Possible handling of lab specimens and must apply proper sanitary practices.
  • Document No Show, Cancels, and Reschedules in Centricity and EMD’s and notify Medical Assistant via e-mail.
  • Handle incoming films.
  • Verify Patient Pick up cabinet for items not pick up by patient and return to designated department.
  • Deliver incoming packages to designated department.
  • Inventory business cards and sign in sheets.
  • Build Urine Cups.
  • Take patient pictures in EMD’s.
  • Assist in Scanning as needed.
  • 2 years of previous experience in a medical environment.
  • Must be able to type at least 40WPM.
  • Must have experience with PC- based business applications software such as Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Proper English grammar, usage, spelling, and punctuation; modern business office procedures, including filing systems, business correspondence, and telephone techniques.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to operate standard office machines and equipment, including telephones, computers, copy machines, fax machines, calculators scanners, and shredders.

Work Environment, Physical and Mental Demands: Constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness. Ability to use a computer to input and retrieve information and data. Ability to work on feet during scheduled work hours.
