Job Description

As an integral component of Friends University and the Division of Student Affairs, the mission of the department of community and residential development is to provide vibrant student-centered living communities designed to promote academic success, personal development, university involvement and civic engagement. This coordinator position is a live in position that works independently, under general supervision, to oversee 100-200 co-educational students in a Friends University complex and assists in the development and implementation of all departmental activities. It is a requirement of this position to live in student housing and eat in the Casado dining room. 

Major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervises the overall direction and development of Resident Assistants
  • Works with the community and residential development team overseeing, selecting, training and evaluating student staff
  • Utilize effective communicating, planning, scheduling and organizing skills as they relate to job responsibilities; including working with university staff and departments
  • Monitor program and administrative budgets for individual community
  • Responds as first on-campus contact for crisis intervention and management for residential community via 24-hour on call rotation
  • Role models appropriate behavior and response to students and staff, adhering to departmental and university policies and ethical statement
  • Assess and responds to residential students physical, emotional and intellectual needs
  • Assesses, develops, implements and evaluates programs; provides leadership in developing a sense of community

Must be able to work weekend/evening hours. Benefits include: room/board, tuition remission, medical/dental insurance, and paid vacation/sick leave.

Bachelors degree required, preferably in a human service field (psychology, social work, education,etc.) Masters degree in student affairs administration preferred. Must have experience organizing, supervising and working with student groups and staff members, and have a working knowledge of college student development theories and counseling skills. In addition, managerial, administrative, and human relations skills are necessary.  Computer proficiency required (MS Office products preferred).
