We are currently seeking CADD Technician/Landscape Designer to join our Richmond, Virginia office location.

Under the direction of the landscape architecture department and other technical staff, the CADD Technician/Landscape Designer applies learned skills and technical ability to prepare detailed landscape and hardscape construction drawings, 2-D and/or 3-D renderings, and related maps used in planning. Projects would involve private and public sector work, including recreational facilities, parks, streetscapes, schools, universities, and commercial, retail or residential land development.

The CADD Technician will:

  • Work cooperatively with the design team to realize target goals. 
  • Evaluate and input layouts, drawings, specifications and other data received from landscape architecture staff. 
  • Interpret data in order to effectively and efficiently complete assigned tasks.
  • Finalize detailed drawings from sketches, plans, specifications and written/verbal instructions using computer-aided drafting programs including civil 3-D and Land F/X.
  • Proactively seek input and clarification from other employees in order to minimize time spent in performing the essential duties of the position.
  • Check assigned work to ensure accuracy and quality.

 

The CADD Technician should have the following skills and qualifications:

  • Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented and organized.
  • Degree or Certificate in Horticulture, Landscape Design, GIS or a Computer-Aided Design Specialist.
  • Advanced level of competency utilizing AutoCAD (Civil 3-D), Sketch Up, Photoshop, and InDesign. 
  • Candidates should have excellent graphic design skills, including advanced ability to create photorealistic perspectives, 3D visualizations, and rendered plans. GIS experience is a plus.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and to communicate with other internal and external customers to clarify expected outcomes.
  • Ability to solve challenging and practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or graphic form.
