Job Description

Job Description:                                 BIO-MEDICAL SUPERVISOR     


Department:                                         Information Services                         


Responsible To:                                   Assistant Director of Technical Services


Education/Training:                            Associate Degree or equivalent of two year Technical Degree in Electronics Technology.


Experience:                                           Minimum of three years experience in Bio-Medical Engineering supervision or training in supervision which will qualify, military experience will be accepted.  Computer literacy required.


Skills & Abilities:                  Computer literacy and skills in basic software programs including Microsoft office required.  Experience with TMS 4-rivers software preferred.  Ability to interface with all levels of management.  Good communication skills.


Physical Requirements:                      Must deal with stressful situations; must have good eye-hand coordination for reading and manipulating test equipment; must be able to lift over 50 pounds;  must physically be able to work whatever shift necessary to complete work assignments; must be able to climb ladders, bend, stoop and reach; must have good hearing.


Environmental Conditions:               Will work in an environmentally controlled area that will be maintained in a clean orderly manner.               


Occupational Exposure:                    Category I = Job involves tasks or procedures that have exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials during the performance of duties.



  1. Supervise bio-medical equipment technicians and maintain a team oriented approach.
  2. Maintain an effective preventive maintenance program.
  3. Supervise clinical equipment repairs.
  4. Maintain all equipment repair records.
  5. Meet all regulatory requirements for maintaining and testing clinical equipment.
  6. Complete a maintenance work order for each work assignment and keep time accounting up to date.
  7. Work with department directors concerning their equipment repair budgets.
  8. Be an active part of the equipment selection committee.
  9. Maintain all clinical testing equipment and have testing equipment calibrated when necessary.
  10. Help coordinate outside service and service contracts other departments.
  11. Assist with preparing the bio-med fiscal year budget.
  12. Perform other job related duties as assigned by Assistant Director of Technical Services.
