Job Description



The Controller assists the Assistant Circulation Manager in maximizing preprint efficiency while minimizing expenses.


  • Control the accuracy of preprint ordering and billing by:
    • Monitoring print runsheets and insertion orders from newspapers
    • Monitoring proof of performance and maintaining the Proof of Performance Program
    • Monitoring 3rd party audit reports and comparing against what was ordered and paid
    • Identifying newspapers that have had no change in circulation or substantial fluctuations
    • Reporting circulation trends vs Menards actual purchasing
    • Reporting YTD Print Advertising cost vs last year and planning
    • Organizing monthly and quarterly circulation reporting by newspaper
    • Doing any other reporting as required by the Assistant Media Purchasing Manager
  •  Accounts Payable Issues and Paybacks
    • Will be responsible for making sure all vendor questioned A/P issues are resolved appropriately
    • Will be in charge of making sure all necessary deductions due Menards are taken
  • Print Advertising Budget
    • Will be responsible for retaining all printing costs and quantities ordered
  • Pagination Report
    • Create pagination report for every flyer and maintain master pagination report
  • Fill In On Vacations
    • Will help fill in when analysts are on vacation
  • Other
    • Other duties as assigned by the Print Advertising/Circulation Manager, Marketing Controller or Marketing Manager
    • Pass on useful information to the proper person when you see a problem developing in another area

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business, prefer Finance or Accounting, or an Associate’s degree in Business Experience as an Analyst or in Accounts Payable is a plus
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • General computer knowledge with Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Must be able to work full-time with the ability to put in overtime (average of 48-55 hours per week)
