About the Position:

The Fraunhofer Center for Sustainable Energy Systems (CSE) is looking for a Member of Technical Staff Data Acquisition Engineer to join its Distributed Electrical Energy Systems Group. This is an opportunity to work with one of the world’s leading research groups, including our partners at the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE) and the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics (IBP), to develop, model, test, and evaluate cutting-edge building efficiency, power generation and distribution solutions for a wide variety of clients. Principal Responsibilities:

•     Implement comprehensive sensing and data acquisition solutions, both local and remotely, to provide publication-quality measurement data for industry and government-funded research and development projects.

•     In a collaborative environment, integrate the systems and tools used by the researchers in ways that increase their productivity, collaborative capabilities and capacity to scale their efforts efficiently.

•     Contribute to proposals to develop, test, and evaluate performance of novel technologies.

•     Support the efforts of the CSE groups with technical advice on efficient data acquisition methods,

Required Experience and Education:

• Hands-on expertise applying a wide range of sensors, data acquisition and storage systems in both controlled (laboratory) and remote monitoring environments.
• Thorough understanding of the practical pros and cons of different data communications approaches
• Keen awareness of the state-of-the-art in relevant sensing, data acquisition and data management technologies
• Desire to expand your capabilities to address a wide range of relevant applications
• Experience with the systems development process from design stages, through validation, diagnostics, and CIP
• Must have experience with programmable data acquisition systems like LabVIEW, Databases (SQL), and numerical modeling software like Matlab.  
• Experience working in an embedded Linux environment.
• Experience and desire to work in project teams.
• B.S.in a relevant field
