Job Description

GENERAL FUNCTIONS:

This position will underwrite all first mortgage collateral (appraisals) according to FNMA/FHLMC and credit union guidelines.   Responsible for the safety and soundness of the credit union client portfolio and salability of loans.  Additionally, will work to establish working relationships with appraisers that reside on our panel of approved appraisers.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Responsible for underwriting first mortgage collateral per the guidelines of FNMA/FHLMC
  2. Product Training
  3. Research new products
  4. Keep abreast on agency guideline changes and communicate effectively to the team
  5. Promotes honest and open communication throughout the credit union
  6. Demonstrate behaviors that are consistent with the credit union’s values, philosophies, and leadership characteristics
  7. Work with other credit union departments to insure the workflow or process is providing the best service to the members
  8. Other duties as assigned by management 
Skills/Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Mastery of FNMA/FHLMC underwriting guidelines
  2. Experience utilizing a PC with word processing and spread sheet applications
  3. Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
  4. Ability to resolve interpersonal conflict and miscommunications.
  5. Knowledge of spreadsheet software and ability to use word processing software.
  6. Must be able to be bonded.

 PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

In this position, individual will be expected to lift up to 20 pounds from time to time.

Also, must be able to stoop, bend, reach, or stand for extended periods of time.  Must be able to sit and use a computer for extended periods of time.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This position is expected to work in general office environment and must have an automobile to travel within the local area and be able to attend various schools, seminars and workshops as required.

 RECRUITING REQUIREMENTS:

One or more years underwriting first mortgages to FNMA/FHLMC guidelines.  Appropriate experience of at least two years may be substituted for the above requirements.
