The MSFT degree is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marital and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE) of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT).

The Wichita location trains a diverse class of 30 students as they move through the 60-credit hour, 24-month degree in a cohort model. Predominately female, students range in age from 22 – 60 and represent varied demographics with regard to spirituality, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, and ethnicity.  This diversity is a benefit of the program’s being located in the largest urban area in Kansas.

MSFT faculty outcomes include meeting University faculty role expectations for teaching, scholarship, and service, interpersonal competency in interaction with the program students, colleagues and stakeholders, contribution to engaging diversity through instruction, supervision, and program development, contribution to MSFT program effectiveness, and contribution to the practice and profession of MFT.

The successful candidate will have a PhD or ABD in Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related professional field; demonstrated strong clinical skills and university level teaching experience in undergraduate and/or graduate Marriage and Family Therapy or a related field; AAMFT clinical fellow membership and the Approved Supervisor designation or supervisor candidate eligibility and eligibility for licensure in the state of Kansas.

This position requires the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate, both orally and in writing, with diverse sets of constituencies. The successful candidate will play a key role in student mentoring and advising. Positive consideration will be given to demonstrated competency in classroom instruction, work in a collaborative team environment, and experience with diverse populations and settings.  Applicants should be prepared to teach and conduct clinical supervision at the Wichita location and to engage students in various University activities.

This position reports to the Program Director of the Master of Science in Family Therapy program (MSFT), located in the Graduate School. Instruction occurs in a state-of-the-art training facility located on the Wichita campus. This facility also houses the Center on Family Living (CFL), a very active community clinic.
