Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:The Paralegal/Legal Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support for the Legal Staff of the Corporate Legal Department.  This position performs a wide variety of secretarial, administrative support, and legal research duties.  This position also helps ensure the proper functioning of the department and enhances the productivity and effectiveness of a busy, professional environment. 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare legal letters, documents and exhibits under direction of Corporate Counsel
  • Conduct legal and internet research
  • General office work
    • Maintain proper legal files
    • Photocopy
    • process mail
    • Prepare electronic documents/filings
  • Answer multiple line phone system with good phone etiquette, transferring calls, and taking and deliver messages quickly and accurate
  • Monitor incoming and outgoing faxes and accurately route documents to department staff
  • Handle Inter-company mail
  • Use of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point
  • Use of Prolaw
  • Maintain calendars and scheduling
  • Data entry and updating
  • Order supplies
  • Coordinate departmental documentation for management approval and signatures
  • Other:
    • Other tasks as assigned by the supervisor or senior staff
    • Researching legal and other issues

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Paralegal Certificate or other similar Technical Degree
  • Past paralegal or legal secretary experience would be preferred
  • Punctuality, reliability, honesty, and consistency
  • A pleasant and professional demeanor at all times
  • Ability to work independently and produce quality work
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and interact with many departments on all levels
  • Ability to work under pressure of deadlines
