Job Description

Liberty Healthcare Corporation has partnered with Riverside County to establish an Incompetent to Stand Trial (IST) Treatment Program for the California Department of Mental Health. This program is located at the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside, CA.

The mission of the IST Treatment Program is to minimize the need and waiting periods for State hospital forensic mental health beds by delivering timely court-mandated forensic assessments, psychiatric stabilization and restoration of competency to individuals within county jails.

Liberty is seeking a qualified part-time Medical Records Clerk / Office Manager to support operations at the program.

Medical Records Technician Certification and experience within a secure correctional setting preferred.

Primary job responsibilities include:

  • Classification and filing of medical records and documents
  • Review of medical records for completeness and accuracy, and compliance with established criteria
  • Possess knowledge of medical records/information management systems, principles and practices
  • Exercise independent judgment and manage all aspects of medical record keeping
  • Perform the full range of office and administrative support functions – typing, word processing, photocopying, filing, etc.
  • Serve as a receptionist by screening calls, responding to routine questions, regarding policy and procedures, and transferring calls as needed
  • Follow policies regarding confidentiality
  • Prepare itineraries and schedules of events and maintain calendar to remind professional staff of upcoming deadlines and activities
  • Maintain sufficient supplies for the office and work unit by conducting physical inventories, ordering, receiving and restocking supplies

  • Medical Records Technician Certification preferred
  • Experience within a secure correctional setting preferred
  • Working knowledge of business English, math, good grammar and spelling skills, and ability to develop correspondence, reports and operational directives required
  • Must possess proficient knowledge in computer networks; network administration; computer troubleshooting; computer viruses and security; and e-mail and internet programs
  • Ability to be courteous and cooperative with resident and staff
