Liberty Healthcare, a leading provider of behavioral health services, is currently hiring a program director for the inpatient psychiatric unit at Westchester Medical Center's Behavioral Health Center. This exciting position serves as part of the overall leadership team, managing the day to day operations of a fast paced acute care psychiatric hospital serving a wide array of patients. The program director’s operational responsibility will be for both therapeutic and direct care staff.
Plan, organize, direct and control overall therapeutic and direct care staff functions for the daily operation, future planning and growth of the program. Oversee and assist in the development and implementation of programs, policies and procedures.
Serve as part of the leadership team including hospital committees, complaint investigations and quality improvement initiatives.
Supervise recruiting, hiring, evaluation, documentation and termination of staff. Affirm that all Human Resources activities are conducted in accordance with applicable federal, state, county and corporate rules and regulations.
Affirm compliance with all applicable federal, state and county standards and regulatory requirements now in effect or that may become necessary for licensure or accreditation for staff and program, including training requirements for staff.
Works with clinical staff to develop and innovate specialty programs and procedures to make WBHC more responsive to the needs of the community.
Manage a staff of over 100 employees.
Provide some clinical and administrative support functions as necessary, including on-call and back-up on-call.
Interface daily with medical director, hospital leadership and other executives.
Assist agency in proactive strategic planning, team building, training and enhancement of therapeutic milieu.
Develop and implement program policies and procedures.
Experience managing staffing, scheduling, budget and the therapeutic milieu is essential.
Experience with an in-patient psychiatric hospital is a must.
Superior interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with people and professionals in a variety of settings, provide leadership, and manage staff.
Knowledge of state, local and federal regulatory rules and regulations governing service delivery.
Appreciation of Joint Commission and State Health Department regulations and codes as they relate to a behavioral health hospital.
Knowledge of Quality Management principles as applied to the operation of the program; capacity to coordinate QM activities and reporting
Ability to assemble data and prepare evaluation and program activity reports.
