Job Description
<p> College Bound Dorchester operates a small alternative middle school program of approximately 15 students in partnership with the Office of Education Options at Boston Public Schools.  Given the size of this program it has been operating with two full-time teachers in the past.  For this coming school year we are shifting to one of these positions being a Director/Teacher split and having the second position remain as a full-time teaching position.  As we are also recruiting for the Director/Teacher split, this position may be teaching the math/science components of the program or the humanities components of the program. With that, this teaching position may be Math/Science or Humanities.  In general, teaching responsibilities include curriculum development; implementation of objective-based lesson plans, assessment, data tracking, and family engagement. </p> <p> For more detailed information regarding this posiiton please download the complete position description.</p> <p>  </p></p>
<p> <strong>QUALIFICATIONS</strong></p> <p> <strong>Education:   </strong>Bachelor degree in education or related field required</p> <p> <strong>Experience, Knowledge and Skills:</strong></p> <ul> <li> Three years experience teaching middle school math and science in an urban setting;</li> <li> Three years experience working with at/proven risk adolescents;</li> <li> Experience building and working with a competency-based curriculum;</li> <li> Proven track record of success in advancing student proficiency in math and science, preferably with the MCAS;</li> <li> Commitment to the mission and vision of College Bound Dorchester;</li> <li> Highly organized, motivated, and adaptable;</li> <li> Ability to work with a diverse staff and to support a diverse population of students;</li> <li> Self-directed, enthusiastic, reliable, and creative, comfortable working as a team player to develop and enhance the Middle School program;</li> <li> Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook;</li> <li> Experience working with <em>Efforts To Outcomes </em>or other performance data-base to track progress and inform decision making;</li> <li> Ability to travel for field trips within and near the community - valid driver’s license required.</li> </ul></p>
