Job Description
<p>
<strong>POSITION OVERVIEW</strong></p>
<p>
The College Readiness Advisor (CRA) for College Connections High School track students is responsible for working with students in designated Boston Public High Schools who are failing one or more core courses with the goal of supporting high school graduation and college matriculation.  The CRA works with assigned high schools to identify and recruit students, support their work with credit recovery, implement College Bound’s Launch curriculum and formally and informally mentor and advise students.  The CRA also tracks students performance using BPS and College Bound online systems.  This position also entails some supervision and engagement, organization, coordination and implementation of activities and events relevant to youth.</p>
<p>
<strong>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>
Actively recruit appropriate students into program by participating in various outreach activities meant to introduce students and families to the program and larger organization;</li>
<li>
Support youth development academically and social-emotionally to develop the skills to enter and graduate from college by:
<ul>
<li>
Monitoring participation in all aspects of programming,</li>
<li>
Mentoring youth through modeling positive, healthy relationships and decision-making,</li>
<li>
Planning, executing and assessing objective-based LAUNCH lessons to teach social readiness, college readiness and life skills,</li>
<li>
Communicating to students their academic readiness for various college tracks by assessing student grades, monitoring academic progress with credit recovery and other experiences, and performance on standardized assessments,</li>
<li>
Planning activities that provide students an opportunity to practice social readiness, college readiness and life skills;</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>
Maintain regular contact with schools, parents and families of students served;</li>
<li>
Track and keep up to date all efforts and student progress using <em>Efforts To Outcomes </em>software, as well as maintaining all other required records;</li>
<li>
Manage each students case and serve as their advocate both internally and externally;</li>
<li>
Strengthen and develop partnerships with other youth serving organizations;</li>
<li>
Participate in all case management meetings, staff meetings and other required program/organization meetings/events;</li>
<li>
Participate in relevant required trainings and seek out training opportunities that support professional development outlined in the Individualized Professional Development Plan;</li>
<li>
Adhere to all protocols and norms for communication and professional conduct, e.g. <em>Email and Phone Communication Protocol, Communication Norms</em>;</li>
<li>
Fulfill all outlined and related functions in a professional, timely, and thorough manner;</li>
<li>
Complete other duties related to this position as assigned by your direct supervisor.</li>

<strong>Education:   </strong>Bachelor’s degree preferred or actively pursuing degree</p>
<p>
<strong>Experience, Knowledge and Skills:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>
At least 3 years experience working with at-risk youth;</li>
<li>
Track record of supporting youth to engage positively with education and life choices</li>
<li>
Deep knowledge of youth development;</li>
<li>
Desire to work in a mission driven organization undergoing organizational change;</li>
<li>
Ability to work and communicate with adolescent youth and families from all populations;</li>
<li>
Must function independently and as a member of a team;</li>
<li>
Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook;</li>
<li>
Experience working with performance data-base preferred;</li>
<li>
Ability to take initiative and prioritize work, highly organized;</li>
<li>
Abiility to travel to assigned, remote sites and within the community - valid driver’s license preferred.</li>
