Under general supervision, this position installs, configures, and maintains UNIX operating systems for P2 development environments. Reports to a supervisor or manager. Candidate must be flexible and excited about working in a fast paced company; have proven communication and organizational skills; and be willing and able to focus on customer service to meet business needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following:
Install, configure, and administer UNIX operating systems: AIX, Solaris, RedHat Linux
Analyze and resolve problems associated with the operating system's server, hardware, applications, and software
Detect, diagnose, and report UNIX related problems on servers
Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
Perform a variety of tasks as assigned
Skills/Requirements
Requirements:
Post-Secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science or equivalent combination of related education and experience
Strong technical, analytical, and problem solving skills
Ability to work in a fast paced environment with changing deadlines and priorities
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures as a UNIX administrator
Preferences:
2 years or more experience administering UNIX/Linux systems
Some knowledge of backup technologies including Tivoli Storage Manager, and EMC networker would be an asset
