Objective:

The Account Manager position is responsible for all prospecting, sales activities, revenue generation, and follow-up in STEC’s engagements with large multinational ENTERPRISE customers.  Successful candidates for this position must have a proven track record of revenue success in working with Fortune 1000 customers in clearly defined vertical segments.  Technical background and storage industry experience is highly desired in this role.

General Job Description:

This position is responsible for STEC’s business with large ENTERPRISE customers representing the Fortune 1000 in defined vertical sales segments.  As an Account Manager the candidate is expected to do the following:

  • Set strategic direction for STEC interaction with customer(s) and territories
  • Develop and execute a revenue growth plan for his assigned sales segment and customer base
  • Manage  customer(s) demand through forecasting and business metrics
  • Interface at all levels within his assigned customer(s) in order to insure STEC mindshare and presence
  • Build strong working relationships with customer engineering organizations
  • Define customer(s) storage needs and effectively communicate those back into STEC
  • Provide market intelligence regarding storage industry, SSD competition, etc.

  Job locations:  National with focus on hub cities for Fortune 1000

Any successful candidate will be well organized, with excellent communication skills, and a strong personal desire for success.  The ability to work effectively with little or no supervision is required.

 


 

Skills/Requirements

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a strong technical background coupled with relevant on the job experience.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to be successful in this position.

  • BS in Engineering or equivalent technical experience is required
  • MBA is desirable in this role
  • Minimum of 5 years as an Account Manager in storage or similar technical field
  • 7 to 10 years of relevant sales experience selling into the Fortune 1000
  • Good understanding of SSD technology, its application, and usage environments
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills
  • Robust knowledge and understanding of the sales process and customer psychology
  • Demonstrated history of successful revenue generation in technology markets
  • Travel flexibility of approximately 25% of the time to customers, headquarters, and factories
  • Practical command of Microsoft Windows, Excel, and PowerPoint

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Position requires the ability to read, write and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, and emails in English.  Applicants must be able to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to both internal and external customers.
