P2 seeks an experienced Product Manager to manage the IDEAS product line.  IDEAS is an accounting and cost management solution focused on international upstream oil and gas operators. The Product Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of the overall strategic plan, focusing on optimizing investment and return across the platform. Specific areas of focus include: capturing market requirements and prioritizing into a roadmap vision, product positioning and leading go-to-market strategy, partnering and buy versus build analysis.

The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision; and the drive to make that vision a reality. The Product Manager must spend time in the international market to understand problems and find innovative solutions to meet customer needs and demands.

 The Product Manager must be able to communicate and work with all areas of the Company including: Software Services and Development to define development projects and product release requirements; Marketing to define product positioning, key benefits, and go-to-market strategies; Global Support to assure product stability and usability; Professional Services to ensure successful delivery, training, and services; Sales to ensure successful sales programs are in place and to serve as the primary internal and external evangelist for product; and senior management in making product decisions.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with customers and internal resources to define user personas and key business workflows and develop recommended solutions and delivery options to accelerate growth of the IDEAS  business.
  • Define product strategic plan and roadmap, new and maintenance release content, go-to-market documents and recommendations.
  • Alignment with the corporate product business strategy with accountability for product profitability. This includes using knowledge of market share, competitive analyses and win-loss information to create product positioning, pricing, demonstrated ROI and promotion.
  • Identification of cross-product and cross-platform integration opportunities and the associated business case that will assure market success for incremental integration development work.
  • Develop positive consultative and collaborative relationships across the organization to assure product and platform success.
  • Assistance in analyzing and recommending potential strategic partners and assembling complementary products and services.
  • Maintaining and developing successful relationships with third party vendors.
  • Accountability for the delivery to the Sales organization of training, information and joint development of collateral to sell the product. Develop the product positioning and customer attributes to achieve market growth and product financial success.
  • In conjunction with Marketing, accountable for successful launch of product(s) and/or service(s) into the marketplace.
  • Accountability for relationships and products that result in positive client satisfaction ratings.
  • Perform training to internal departments on products.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Prefer Master’s degree with emphasis in Accounting, Computer Science or Oil and Gas Accounting Related degree, or 5 to 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Oil and Gas Accounting
  • IDEAS software expertise preferred
  • Product Management education and experience

Special Skills/Competencies:

  • Spanish or other foreign languages a plus
  • Ability/Desire to Travel up to 50% of time
  • Oil & Gas Business processes.
  • Product Management skills.

Computer Skills/Competencies/Abilities

  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Proficiency in SQL and advanced Microsoft Excel and Access skills a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to solve complex problems
  • Can-do attitude and a passion for learning about and developing new products and technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task in fast paced environment in both leadership and team roles.
  • Quick learner with exceptional organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Demonstrates good decision-making and analytical skills.
  • Highly motivated, engaging, and able to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Customer oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to influence others and work collaboratively in order to produce results across multiple functional teams.
  • Must also possess the ability to manage and execute on multiple, critical projects simultaneously and drive high priority activities without losing sight of the overall product strategy.
