Job Description

Friends University is looking to fill Community Services Coordinator position in Overland Park, KS. The Coordinator is responsible for developing community relationships necessary to support the clinical training activity of the MSFT degree, including a network of community clinical placements.  Assists in the implementation of an Internship Site Development Plan defined by the MSFT Clinical Director.   Interacts with MSFT students within the process of internship placement selection.  Responsible for updating and developing internship website for Kansas City MSFT Graduate Program and coordinating the online clinical placement system through Field Experience Management (FEM) on LiveText.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivates positive relations between the MSFT Program and existing MSFT internship sites through a systematic structure of personal contact and internship site performance review, accomplished through a mix of correspondence, telephone, email, quarterly electronic newsletters and on-site visits.
  • Assists the MSFT Clinical Director in a systematic structure introducing the internship placement process and facilitates student clinical placement assignments.
  • Supports targeted expansion of MSFT internship sites as guided by the Internship Site Development Plan defined by the MSFT Clinical Director, accomplished through a mix of correspondence, telephone, email, and on-site visits.
  • Assists the MSFT clinical training component in general to promote efficient workflow.  Reports and represents Community Services Coordinator activities in weekly meetings with the Kansas City MSFT program staff.  Provides limited support to MSFT Program recruitment, admission, and retention efforts.  Promotes positive consumer and community relations on behalf of Friends University
  • Attends internal and external training as requested or required.  Attends training sessions required by the employer and may be tested related to the training to adequately perform the major duties of the position.

Work Hours: This position is for 25 hours per week. Work hours are set in consultation with the MSFT Clinical Director. May include extra hours beyond the part-time schedule including some evenings and/or weekend hours. The 25 hours must be done on site unless the CSC is doing a site visit.





Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in psychology, human services, or related person-oriented field is required.   A master’s degree in MFT or related field with familiarity of the marriage and family therapy profession is preferred.  A license for clinical practice is not required. 
  • Experience required with project development and implementation accomplished through a balance of independence and work under supervision within parameters of a defined plan.  Experience with promoting positive customer satisfaction and public relations is most important.  Two years preferred in a position with similar requirements.  Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database and website development experience desired,  (MS Office products preferred).
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills are necessary.   The applicant must be comfortable with making new contacts across a variety of community settings.  Ability to work positively and collaboratively within a small professional work group is required.   Ability to maintain confidential information in a professional manner is required.
  • Strong organizational skills are necessary for identifying, tracking, and following up with multiple community contacts.
