Business Intelligence Solutions Architect Apply
CO - Greenwood Village (Home Office)

Based out of our Greenwood Village Home Office, the Business Intelligence Solutions Architect (BISA) at Red Robin will focus on the creation of accurate, consistent and transparent enterprise data.  The BISA is responsible for the architecture, design, development, and data quality of the data warehouse environment (data hub, ODS, enterprise data warehouse, data marts, ETL, and cubes) to deliver reliable, flexible, scalable and high business value with low cost of ownership enterprise data solutions. The BISA will also be responsible for the architecture, design, development of our Business Intelligence (BI) environment and Master Data Management (MDM) solution. The BISA will support enterprise data management in choosing the right processes, technologies, and resources for enterprise data.  These responsibilities apply to data models, data integrations, and data quality as set forth by the IT governance organization.  This role will work closely with the Business Relationship Directors and report directly to the Data Assets Manager to insure all solutions the BISA is responsible for deliver information to empower the business and their reporting, visualizations, and decisions making processes.

Essential functions for this role includes design, testing, monitoring, and validating BI activity, including data extraction, transformation, movement, loading, cleansing and updating processes. The BI Solutions Architect is accountable for the following: 

 Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop data management solutions including data partitioning, data normalizing/de-normalizing, data aggregations, master data management and ETL within the data warehouse platform.
  • Create logical and physical data model designs (including 3NF and dimensional models) supporting the business needs and following Red Robin data standards.
  • Maintain and guide the technical architecture, standards and infrastructure of the technologies and tools used in the BI program.
  • Gather all functional/non-functional requirements from business owners as part of the formal intake process for the data group.
  • Coordinate with the development team to translate business requirements into technical specifications for custom development and systems integration requirements.
  • Provide thought leadership with regards to creative data profiling and integration recommendations.
  • Directing, testing, and participating in regression testing as it relates to the data warehouse environments or data marts.
  • Provide strategic and tactical guidance with respects to data warehousing / data mart best practices.
  • Provide thought leadership with regards to creative data profiling and integration recommendations.
  • Provide consulting and conduct reviews through the development lifecycle.
  • Lead the data warehouse maturity with continuous improvement towards an enterprise data model.
  • Troubleshoot Production issues, identify root cause and migrate fixes. Develop reporting standards and best practices to ensure data standardization and consistency. Perform data cleansing and data auditing as necessary to ensure data quality. Define and develop physical and logical data models to support departmental and functional reporting needs.
  • Other IT projects and duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.  MBA preferable.
  • 2 years of experience in a data warehouse architecture role.
  • 3+ years of experience in data modeling, such as star schemas, snowflakes, normalized and de-normalized models, handling “slow-changing” dimensions/attributes.
  • 3+ years of experience designing and developing data extractions, models and UIs with front end reporting tools such as PowerBI, QlikView, or Tableau.
  • Practical hands on experience with data modeling, ETL, OLAP, and data profiling.
  • Strong knowledge of how databases and ETL software function including when to use which platform.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Database development including stored procedures, store functions, triggers, and views.
  • 5 - 10 years of working with databases preferable SQL Server.
  • Understanding of the difference in data models (3NF, star schema, and snowflake schema) and when to use them.
  • Knowledge of the SQL Server Business Intelligence stack including SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, and PowerBI.
  • Strong analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communications skills at both the IT and business levels.
  • Be proficient in business analysis, data modeling, logical and physical database design, data acquisition analysis and design, data access analysis and design.
