Senior Accountant- Lease Accounting Apply
CO - Greenwood Village (Home Office)

Based at our Greenwood Village Home Office, you are responsible for accurately recording lease accounting for our large portfolio in accordance with GAAP and company policies with minimal supervision.


Duties Include:
 
  • Prepare periodic lease accounting journal entries  (rent payment and expense, prepaid rent, deferred rent, tenant incentive accrual, etc.) via lease administration software, and record journal entries to Company’s ERP system
  • Review lease abstractions; perform capital vs operating tests, and built-to-suit tests for new restaurant openings
  • Manage accounting components of our lease portfolio within lease administration software such as extensions, amendments, or terminations
  • Generate monthly percentage rent sales reports and subsequent payments to landlords
  • Record miscellaneous journal entries (rent related expense accruals, reclasses, etc.); perform balance sheet account reconciliations and expense account variance analysis
  • Calculate intangible asset amortization and capitalized overhead for Construction/IT departments
  • Record project expenses and provide project reporting and analysis to project managers
  • Assist implementation of new lease administration software
  • Assist adoption of new lease accounting guidance  (ASC 842), assess and report the retrospective impacts on Company’s financial statements
  • Prepare lease schedules (minimum rent, future obligation, etc.) for Company’s 10-Q & 10-K disclosures
  • Ad-hoc projects

 






Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance,  business or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years of general accounting experience, including minimum of 2 years lease accounting
  • Knowledge of lease accounting under current ASC 840 as well as upcoming ASC 842
  • Large ERP, lease administration software, and general ledger accounting experience
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Very strong attention to detail
  • Self-starter with excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and within the company culture
