Job Description

We are seeking
Venue Managers
to join our team at Blue Smoke On The Road in Delta's Terminal 4 at JFK Airport.


The Venue Manager assists in the daily operations of the restaurant unit within JFK Terminal 4 and are directly responsible for ensuring excellent service and hospitality for guests during each meal period.  This position requires flexibility and a wide range of skills and knowledge in front of house line positions along with people management skills.  Venue Managers actively embody, inspire, and teach skills that will elevate the core values and mission of Union Square Events while maintaining the standards of the Blue Smoke Brand.  This position works with the Assistant General Manager to liaise between SSP to adhere to the standards, policies and procedures they have in palace as the general operators of the food and beverage units for the building.  Being in an airport, this position requires a strong understanding of the security policies and procedures put forth by the Port Authority of NY/NJ

Skills/Requirements

Experience:

  • At least 2 years Concessions Management experience

Technical:

  • Strong understanding of Barbecue Restaurant style food service & beverage programs.
  • Understanding of various types of barbecue cuisine and bourbons
  • Excellent knowledge of restaurant operations
  • Excellent communication oral & written communication skills
  • Excellent leadership, organization & management skills
  • Proficiency in multiple POS platforms (Aloha, Micros, Posi-touch, Revel, etc)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • Familiarity with Inventory Management Systems (IMS)

Language:

  • English, Spanish preferred

Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • NYC Food Handler’s Certificate
  • TIPS Certification preferred

Work Environment:

  • Must be able to stand, reach with arms and hands, bend and stoop, kneel and crouch more than 50% of the time.
  • Must be able to verbally communicate with employees and guest at all times.
  • Lifting requirements range from 10 to 50 lbs no more than 20% of the time
  • Must be able to work long hours, walking, standing, and climbing stairs for several hours at a time
  • Must be willing to travel occasionally
