POSITION SUMMARY:
The Field Service Technicians primary responsibilities are to repair and support RainDance Technologies [RDT] instrumentation. This person will interact with our customers via telephone, on-line and on-site. The technician performs installations, remedial repairs, planned maintenance, verification of instrument performance and operation of RDT instrumentation. This role includes familiarizing customers with instrument operation and maintenance. This person has responsibility for repairs and documentation of activities. The Field Service Technician contributes to RDT growth through maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction and instrument performance. Occasional visits to Billerica facility may be required to assist in the manufacture or disposition of instrument or instrument components along with product training.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Repair of complex electronic, mechanical, fluidic and optical subsystems, including:
o stepper motor driven robotics
o microprocessor and control electronics
o Microfluidic circuits
o PC and o/s operation and maintenance
• Customer relations management
• Use of electronic test equipment
• Basic molecular biology laboratory techniques: pipetting, mixing solutions,
• Use of Microsoft Office and other general software applications
• Other tasks as reasonably requested
Skills/Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Solid understanding of electromechanical and fluidics systems, including hardware, electronics, vision & computer operating systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluent in written and verbal English
• Able to work with RainDance FSE(s) to prioritize and determine repair requirements
• Willingness to develop problem solving, troubleshooting and customer relationship skills
• Electrical and/or mechanical experience
• Willingness to work in a rapid growth environment preferred.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
• Associates degree [AS/AA], Bachelors preferred in Life Science, Chemistry, Engineering or related fields with 3+ years of experience; or equivalent relevant experience.
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS:
• Some travel on short notice will be required [~25%].
• This job may involve physical activity such as lifting & carrying up to 50 pounds, manual dexterity and extensive airplane and automobile travel
• Primary duties are performed at field locations, which may require extensive walking, standing and sitting.
• Valid driver’s license.
