GENERAL FUNCTIONS:

The primary function is the development and management of the enterprise business intelligence architecture, including the enterprise data warehouse and other production database environments.  This is a senior level position, an expert level software engineer with a strong emphasis on database development using the Microsoft stack. This individual will serve as a mentor to more junior level positions. 

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Designs, implements, documents, tests and supports data warehousing environment including the data models, business definitions, security and data integrity.
  2. Strong collaboration with business analysts, BI analysts and department stakeholders to apply the appropriate technology solution to help drive business results.
  3. Demonstrates a deep understanding of Credit Union business processes as they pertain to database technology that the Data Services team supports.
  4. Designs, implements and supports data ETL transfers and nightly scheduling of jobs, including dependencies, error alerting and health reporting as appropriate.
  5. Supports nightly refresh of data warehouse systems and proactively resolves problems or disruptions in these processes.
  6. Shares night and weekend “on-call” duty with teammates 1-2 weeks per month.
  7. Responsible for performing data analysis and collaborating with business users to assist with and facilitate data analysis.
  8. Develop required logical and physical data models, both relational and multi-dimensional.
  9. Implement data models and database designs, data access and table maintenance.
  10. Employs SDLC and ALM concepts, including source control for all code and object changes.
  11. Develops highly efficient solutions that is fast, concise and well documented. 
  12. Professional and friendly interaction with members and staff, providing first line problem determination/resolution with a strong sense of customer focus.
  13. Performs root cause analysis to identify permanent resolutions to software or business process issues
  14. Helps to develop data driven testing framework, which aides in the perceived stability and accuracy of the warehouse.
  15. Observe the highest level of confidentiality when dealing with member accounts or personal information and credit union records.
  16. Promotes honest and open communication throughout the credit union.
  17. Demonstrate behaviors that are consistent with the credit union’s values, philosophies, and leadership characteristics.
  18. Work with other credit union departments to ensure the workflow or process is providing the best service to the members.
  19. Perform other duties as assigned.




Skills/Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Seven years’ experience and a solid understanding of database structure, SQL syntax and ETL in MS SQL Server.
  2. Seven years’ experience working with database data models.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
  4. Ability to resolve interpersonal conflict and miscommunications.
  5. Ability to function effectively as a team member in a highly collaborative and fast-paced agile environment.
  6. Some knowledge in one or more emerging technologies such as BI Tools (Tableau), NOSQL, Data Appliances and other Big Data technologies like Hadoop and BigInsight is a plus.
  7. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software and ability to use word processing software.
  8. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  9. Must be able to be bonded.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

In this position, individual will be expected to lift up to 20 pounds from time to time. Also, must be able to stoop, bend, reach or stand for extended periods of time. Requires the ability to sit and use a computer for extended periods of time.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This position is expected to work in general office environment and may have to travel for visits to other credit union facilities or for training purposes.

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

High school graduate or equivalent is required. Bachelors or Master’s Degree strongly preferred. Seven or more years’ experience and a solid understanding of database structure, SQL syntax and ETL in Microsoft SQL Server environment.
