Job Description

SUMMARY

Analyze, design, manufacture, and install protective shielding on equipment. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Lead and facilitate the work of other assemblers, and train new employees.
  • Analyze, design, and fabricate guards and shields from various types of materials.
  • Install guards and shields using welders and various other tools.
  • Work with assembly team to plan location of guards as to not interfere with electrical, and hydraulics.
  • Work with team members to solve problems with fit and operation.
  • Disassembly components and ready them for shipment.
  • Accountable to follow safety and security procedures by using equipment and materials properly.
  • Consistently maintain a clean, well organized work area.
  • Required to travel to respond to customer’s needs when necessary.
  • Work in project teams.
  • Work in other departments as needed, electrical, mechanical and hydraulics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED/PREFERRED

  • Strong problem solving ability.
  • Able to read blueprints, bills of materials, and setup sheets.
  • Able and skilled in the use of welders, and a wide variety of other tools and precision instruments.
  • Basic math skills in all units of measure.
  • Leadership, coaching, and personnel planning skills.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instruction.
  • Requires standing, bending, twisting, lifting, and walking.
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Monitor inventory of guarding materials.

EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED/PREFERRED

  • Formal training in welding.
  • 5 years experience in welding environment.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES

  • Supply own hand tools.
  • Ability to change assignments frequently.
  • Is consistently at work on time, and ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent.
  • Follows instructions, responds to management direction.
  • Takes responsibility for own actions and offers suggestions.
  • Commits to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals.
  • Completes tasks on time
  • Quality focus.
