We are currently seeking an experienced Senior IT Specialist to join our Richmond, VA office location.

Timmons Group Senior IT Specialist is an expert troubleshooter tasked with supporting the hardware and software used throughout the organization.  Senior IT Specialists will manage multiple software license servers (including, but not limited to, Bentley SELECT, ArcGIS, Adobe, MSFT, and Autodesk), several monitoring solutions (such as Nagios and System Center), several backup solutions (both physical media and cloud-based), and provide elevated hardware and software troubleshooting support for users with critical issues.  Candidate must possess strong knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems, networking and network administration, server administration, and have excellent hardware and software troubleshooting skills.

While the Senior IT Specialist position is highly technical, the perfect candidate will excel in these areas:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

  • Manage all software licensing for the organization.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly backups.
  • Answer, respond, and document all support calls that cannot be handled by junior personnel.
  • Assist the Systems Administrator with management of the network and servers.
  • Learn new technical skills and procedures.
  • Develop unassisted projects.
  • Support all software and hardware needs.
  • Set up and configure new users and computers within Active Directory and Exchange Online.

Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Information’s Systems, or Computer Science preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • Unrivaled client service skills.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed for computer related items.
  • Expert hardware and software troubleshooting skills across several OSes and hardware generations.
  • Explicit experience with Windows Server 2008 and 2012, Exchange Online, and Office 365.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
