Job Description

Seeking a transit signals design specialist familiar with the application of automatic train control systems. Knowledge of the AREMA Rules and Guidelines for Signals & Communication design, FRA parts 233, 234 &235, FTA and other transportation safety rules is required. Familiarity with vendor driven systems, digital track circuits and systems integration is a plus.

•Provide Engineering support for preparation of technical specifications for functional/ performance of Signal Systems/ PTC systems with interfaces to conventional wayside/ cab signal systems/ SSI utilized in North America.

•Provide engineering/ detailed design review support for conventional wayside/ cab signaling/ Solid State interlocking (SSI) and interface to PTC overlay systems where applicable.

•Provide engineering support for integration of PTC systems to existing conventional signal systems/ SSI. •Perform technical design & reviews of signal design including :vital interlocking logic, signal location room layout design, signal field equipment layout, Track plans, Cable plans, interfaces to non-vital and remote/ central systems.

•Perform technical design reviews of Wayside/ Carborne/ Supervisory subsystems for Automatic Train Control, SSI and/or CBTC systems, analyze requirements, prepare review comments for disposition of Contract Deliverables (grade crossing & other signal design locations).  Ideal candidates will have an understanding and the ability to develop testing and commissioning plans.

•Have a thorough familiarity with Wayside signal systems, SSI and / or Communications Based Train Control Systems from key suppliers in the market such as Siemens, Thales, Alstom/GE, Ansaldo/Hitachi in order to perform detailed design reviews of product and system submittals.  Position provides opportunity to work remotely. 





Skills/Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification

• PE desired

• 15 years of experience with the design/ oversight of design of wayside signal systems, SSI, ATC systems

• 15+ years of signal circuit design & testing, application logic programming, location designs, typical railroad circuits, NORAC operating rules, signal block design, AREMA signal standards.

• Have a thorough familiarity with FRA PTC rule requirements and compliance criteria and approval process.

• Have thorough familiarity with Conventional signal/ SSI and PTC products from key suppliers in the market.
