Job Description

As a Color Technician with Navitor Specialty Products, you will manages a series of processes and tools designed to help provide predictable and controllable color output across several devices that print in color.  The ideal candidate must possess technical expertise of digital prepress and production processes.  Provides leadership for production related issues for individuals in the prepress department.  Processes relate to producing complex electronic files, proofs and film according to company specifications and quality criteria, which meets customer quality and time requirements, ability to produce and accurately interpret color corrections; understand color management; proper composition of multiple pages and images in image editing software. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for driving Best Practice Color Management process controls.  
  • Work with and provide guidance to team members to: facilitate color management discussions, build consensus, implement and audit process controls.  Monitor, report out, evaluate, take corrective action, and drive needed process controls to ensure a consistent customer experience.
  • Responsible for communicating barriers to success back to upper leadership in order to meet business unit goals.  This position requires a proactive, self-lead and assertive skill set as a leader in order to be successful. 
  • Evaluate new Color Management tools and technologies. You and the team will research, evaluate, and provide supporting documentation including an ROI, installation, implementation and audit to the ROI as applicable.
  • In this role, you will be a Subject Matter Expert around our electronic software and hardware tools used in the electronic and production workflow. This would include systems/tools such as Prinergy, PitStop, Triton, Spectro Densitometers, ect.  
  • Collaborate with marketing, sales, product managers and other departments to plan, analyze, organize and execute assigned projects to support company-wide creative objectives
  • Involvement in Continuous Improvement projects throughout the facility
  • Liaison between design creation & template creation to define and implement process efficiencies
  • Assist Plant Manager in specification of new processes and production equipment
  • Create color profiles across digital press platforms
  • Achieve and maintain color technician certification
  • Manage a series of processes and tools designed to provide predictable and controllable color output across several devices that print in color
  • Define customer specific colors and assist in producing press proofs
  • Support and backup production template creation and implementation
  • Serve as secondary resource for digital template creation on new products
  • Liaison between Account Managers and Production to ensure Product Specs meet Customer expectations
  • Assist in new product configuration and launch
  • Assist in new customer implementation




Skills/Requirements

  • 2-5 years of related/relevant professional color management experience preferred
  • Technical college graphics program and/or three years of graphics experience; extensive knowledge of all prep equipment and production processes preferred
  • Possesses and applies extensive knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of particular field of specialization to the completion of difficult assignments
