Job Description

A Private Banker contributes to the growth and profitability of the Bank’s Wealth Management line of business by (i) developing new wealth management business and (ii) serving as lead relationship manager for a portfolio of private banking clients.  Private Banking’s focus for the Bank, in the order of priority, is to develop and maintain business in the areas (i) assets under management (AUM), (ii) deposits, and (iii) loans.

Job Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies for acquiring new Private Banking Clients
  • Attain the level of “Trusted Advisor” with Private Banking Clients by providing customized solutions and an exceptional level of client service and responsiveness based on the needs and expectations of the client.
  • Act as “Quarterback” for Private Banking clients as appropriate within the Bank to bring together team members with specialties (including Wealth Advisors and Trust Administrators) in a manner that is coordinated for the client.
    • Promote planning services to identify and market AUM business
    • Market AUM business directly
    • Sell bank deposit products when appropriate
    • Provide credit solutions that meet the client’s needs
    • Market other bank products where appropriate for the client
    • Monitor the credit quality of existing clients and be proactive in the management of credit quality issues.
    • Take ownership as needed of the client’s relationship with the Bank.
    • Partner with Commercial Bankers within the organization in a coordinated effort to best serve the Client and the Bank.
  • Ensure a high level of ethics, integrity and professionalism in all client, prospect, public, and internal interactions so as to promote the Bank’s reputation and to ensure compliance with Bank policies and applicable laws and regulations.

  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills based on a thoughtful assessment of risk.
  • Must be self motivated and have the ability to create and to execute business development strategies.
  • Must be self-confident, have excellent communication, presentation and tactful interpersonal skills which apply both to an internal team environment and to High Net Worth Clients including multiple generations of wealthy families.
  • Must have demonstrated skills in financial analysis and credit underwriting.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills are required.
  • This position requires the use of sound business discretion, good judgement, and excellent problem solving skills.
  • Investment management and trust exposure preferred.
