Medical Billing Account Specialist - Revenue Cycle Management

Modernizing Medicine is hiring an Account Specialist to oversee revenue cycle management activities for our physician client practices.  The role of the Account Specialist is a key role within our organization and helps drive our client’s success, retention and account development.   

   

The Role:

As an Account Specialist for Modernizing Medicine, you focus on partnering with our customers to clearly understand their institutional goals, challenges, organizational structure and key business drivers.  Significant activities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Manages overall medical billing operations, including:

    • Ensuring effective flow of demographic charge and payment information

    • Ensuring accurate claim submission and performing account reconciliations

    • Oversees aggressive follow-ups with accounts receivables (A/R), including preparation of denial appeals and distribution of patient statements

    • Monitors fee schedules and insurance denials in order to ensure fully allowed reimbursement

  • Identifies and implements strategies to improve internal and customer processes

  • Incorporates and executes quality assurance processes related to ensure accurate customer billing activity

  • Reviews and analyzes customer accounts, identifies trends and issues, and recommends solutions

  • Collaborates with other team members to improve overall team environment

  • Provides a high level of customer service to both practices and patients by identifying and efficiently resolving insurance and other billing-related issues

  • Manages travel budget as it relates to role

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily





Skills/Requirements

Your Background:

   

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university desired

  • One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Knowledge of medical billing, front-office, physician practice management and healthcare business processes

  • Strong understanding of medical billing/coding, with understanding of various insurance carriers, including Medicare, private HMOs, and PPOs

   

Skills and Attributes:

  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of clients or employees of the organization.

  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software, medical billing software and the Microsoft Office Suite of products with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of basic office equipment should include: Internet and email, copy and fax machines, postage meter and telephone.

  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: A current CA driver’s license and proof of auto insurance are required.
