Job Description

FareStart has an immediate opening for an energetic and experienced cook. This position will work in collaboration with the kitchen team and FareStart students. Responsibilities will include supporting setup, production, execution and all details of FareStart service, including producing food of consistently high quality, taste and presentation. You will also provide direct, hands-on training on core kitchen competencies to FareStart’s Adult Program Students and will be expected to maintain our training standards at all times while on the job.

In this position, training outcomes play a critical role in fully preparing our students for job-readiness. We offer a dynamic and compassionate environment, where you will directly affect the success of our mission and our students.

You have:
•3-5 years’ experience in high volume kitchen
•Formal culinary training or preferred
•Strong leadership skills
•Demonstrated coaching style reflecting compassion, wisdom and integrity
•Instructional experience with disadvantaged men and women (preferred)
•A passion for excellence through teamwork, positive change and communication
•Organized and detail-oriented
•Knowledge of food safety and sanitation principles (with a valid King County Food Handler’s Permit)
•Able to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs and stand for 8 hours

Compensation Package:
