Job Summary
 

The Sr. Marketing Manager, Oncology position on the U.S. Brand Team will play an integral role in the successful launch and ongoing growth of Somatuline Depot in the U.S. Oncology marketplace. This role will focus on both personal and non-personal promotion toward Medical Oncologists and will report to the Sr. Director of Oncology Marketing. 

The Sr. Marketing Manager, Oncology for physician promotions will be responsible for translating key customer insights into effective promotional campaigns that will drive short and long-term product growth and meet/exceed the brand’s annual forecast projections.   This position requires strong strategic and analytical thinking as well as creativity and decision-making skills.  A proven track record of success in developing and executing marketing tactics toward the physician audience and working in a team-based environment must be documented. Providing marketing direction as well as working across functions and providing clear guidance to achieve a best in class launch is imperative. Leadership skills will be critical in this role.

 

Responsibilities


• Ensure the ongoing growth of Somatuline Depot for the Oncology indication in the U.S. market and align brand positioning, messaging and key strategies working closely with all cross functional and agency partners 
• Support effective engagement and communication with the Oncology Field Sales Force as needed to develop and operationalize field-based tactics for the oncology audience
• Serve as champion for identifying and applying customer insights through market research and KTL engagement as well as leading strategic and tactical development of targeted initiatives and materials (both personal and non-personal)
• Execute branded and approved disease state multichannel marketing (MCM) programs including professional websites, media plan, email campaigns, and e-details, and evaluate new opportunities in line with business strategy
• Monitor competitive landscape and develop communications and action plans as needed
• Working with Commercial Shared Services, coordinate convention/congress planning and execution, including booth development, KTL engagements, and promotional opportunities
• Apply creativity, innovation & out-of-box thinking to solve complex business / marketplace issues
• Assist in developing, coordinating and executing annual business and brand plans as per schedule
• Implement an ROI measurement plan to assess impact of key tactics on sales growth? and anticipate when functional course correction is required and make adjustments with a sense of urgency
• Work with senior director and Marketing Research lead to ensure that the marketing processes, programs, and internal reports are developed, implemented, and effectively administered to be consistent with Ipsen’s corporate guidance and all regulatory, legal, ethical SOPs
• Evaluate marketing research plans continuously to ensure they are informing strategy and monitoring performance
• Accountable for the development and management of tactical initiatives and associated budget; collaborate with Finance team to ensure all financial processes are completed accuraterly
• Build and leverage effective relationships with key Oncology customers across all business segments (GPOs, Health Systems, Large Community Practices, Societies, Patient Advocacy, etc.)
• Performing all Company business in accordance with all regulations (e.g. EEO, FDA, OSHA, PDMA, EPA, PhRMA, etc.) and Company policies and procedures.  When violations are noted/observed they are to be immediately reported to management.  Demonstrating high ethical and professional standards with all business contacts

Experience and Education (minimums)

• Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent, MBA preferred
• Biopharma commercial leadership; minimum 5 years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience, with at least 2 of those years in U.S. oncology marketing
• Successful Oncology launch experience preferred
• Marketing of injectable Oncology products preferred with solid working knowledge of access, coverage and reimbursement dynamics for all customers segments
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills along with the ability to influence others
• Ability to work with multiple internal cross-functional teams and successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Demonstrated consistent track record of success and delivering strong sales results
• Strong scientific/medical aptitude and experience
• Significant experience in, and knowledge of, oncology specialty markets with complex science and reimbursement
• Documented success in leading cross functional teams
• Demonstrated success in project, vendor, and budget management
• Pharmaceutical sales and/or sales management experience
• Knowledge of the AMA, ACCME, PhRMA and FDA regulations associated with promotion and industry-supported scientific education activities.
• Working within an environment of strict compliance to all appropriate regulatory guidelines to successfully design and execute tactics, programs and tools that achieve business objectives. 
• Willingness/ability to travel domestically.  International travel may be required

Essential Functions – Physical Position Requirements: Machines and/or Equipment Used

• PC literacy required; MSOffice skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Regularly required to operate standard office equipment (personal computer, photocopy machine, fax machine, etc.)
• Ability to work on a computer up to 7 hours a day.
• Regularly required to sit for long periods of time, and occasionally stand and walk.
• Regularly required to use hands to operate computer and other office equipment.
• Close vision required for computer usage.
• Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, climb and lift up to 25 pounds.
