Job Description

Job Summary: Welds all wall pipe including extension stems, anchor pipe, depend o’ lock rings, wall collars and all other welding needs. Works on small projects around the shop fabricating shop needs. Welding will occur predominately on ductile iron pipe with some steel. Primarily mig with some stick welding.

Welds pipe, extension stems, anchor pipe, wall collars according to order needs

Follow and take measurements for proper positioning of weld

Clean off oil or grease from the pipe prior to beginning the weld

Tack on the piece in measured area, then weld piece into position on both sides.

Welding extension stems according to order specifications and following diagram

Perform other duties as assigned (machine operating, painting, maintenance, etc)

Scope Data/Working Conditions/Physical Demands

Employee will be required to wear respirator, mask and full cover to protect from any hazard. Employee must be fit tested and pass a physical to perform the required work.

Since this is a heavy industrial environment there will be exposure to Fabrication Shop operations. The employee will be exposed from time to time to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as dust, fumes, paint

The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, Walking, Balancing, Stooping, Kneeling, Reaching, Talking, Seeing, Hearing, Driving and Sitting.

When in the Shop Production Area the employee will be required to wear PPE including (steel toed shoes if conducting any work related activity), safety glasses and hearing protection where required.

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities and Traits:

Knowledge and use of welding equipment including TIG or MIG welding, Stick welding
Ability to follow diagrams, orders for specific needs.
Ability to follow measurements, use tape measure and apply measurements exactly.
Basic math skills
Ability to follow a product order needs
