Salary starts at $43,000/year. SUMMARY:

You will monitor your team’s daily work volumes and perform quality reviews to ensure department service levels and standards are met. You will compile and monitor daily statistics and provides input to staff for performance evaluations and reviews. As our Collections Unit Manager, you will assist in the implementation of new policies and procedures. You will monitor collection calls and assist Supervisors with escalated calls, while using the superior customer service skills necessary to resolve potential consumer complaints. You are expected to maintain high levels of production, while ensuring consumers get the highest level of professional service. You’ll motivate and encourage collector performance through positive enthusiasm, coaching, and mentorship. Additional duties will be performed as required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise team of supervisors and/or collectors
  • Establish and implement departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures
  • Interview and hire collectors to meet department headcount
  • Monitor collector attendance and performance to ensure results are achieved as compared to performance standards
  • Complete weekly telephone monitoring to ensure procedural and regulatory compliance
  • Prepare and conduct monthly performance evaluations for supervisors
  • Ensure adequate staffing coverage during working hours
  • Communicate changes in policies and procedures
  • Develop, coach, and mentor supervisors and/or collectors
  • Assist in the development of team recognition, incentives, and contests
  • Travel as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills/Requirements

ACCOUNTABILITY:

You are directly accountable for ensuring collections staff provides a high level of service to consumers by providing timely and accurate information as requested and meeting quality standards and revenue expectations. You are responsible for ensuring a high level of accuracy and quality by call monitoring and account auditing. Provide feedback to staff members on monthly evaluations acknowledging performance achieved and providing guidance in areas to improve.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Extensive knowledge of collections practices required
  • Working knowledge of State and Federal laws (FDCPA, reg Z)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Flexibility to adapt well to change
  • Excellent decision making and problem solving skills
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality at all times, in all situations
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff
  • Ability to work independently with little direct supervision
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Excellent motivation skills required
  • Ability to work various shifts
  • Minimum of three years prior operations management experience

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

You must meet work deadlines, have regular attendance, good oral and written communication skills, good interpersonal skills, ability to work with a team, ability to multi-task, use a PC and a computer terminal, and the specialized telephone system. Our Collections Unit Manager position requires access to all areas of the office, and the ability to sit for extended periods of time, periodically bending and twisting, and frequent application of a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
