Job Description

Carlisle Construction Materials Incorporated, a worldwide leading diversified manufacturer of premium building products and related technology has an immediate opening for a Lab Technician at its Wylie, TX location. The Lab Technician’s primary purpose is to work closely with the R&D chemists, preparing and/or testing lab batches and evaluate new or replacement raw materials.  This may also include testing and evaluation of competitive samples. The technician may also be requested to perform quality control testing on production raw materials, work in process and on finished products to ensure all of these items are in compliance with established specifications.  As required by the Laboratory Manager, the technician will also perform Analytical evaluations using characterization instrumentation. 

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and perform testing on adhesives, tapes, membranes, rubber modified asphalt material, raw materials, and/or in-process production work to ensure acceptable performance, product consistency, and/or quality control.
  • Work independently on testing quality-control and/or R&D projects with minimal supervision by chemist and/or manager.
  • Work in a team environment that fosters flexibility, strong communication, and a balance of team focus (shared goals and responsibilities).
  • Maintain laboratory equipment including any required service or calibration.
  • Record results (quality control and project) in laboratory management system.
  • Maintain lab supplies, quality control files, standard operating procedures and batch retains.
  • Special projects at the discretion of the R&D Manager and/or R&D Chemists.




Skills/Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalent is required, in addition to postgraduate or industry coursework in Mathematics, Science or Computers.  Understanding of statistical methods is required.  Two years’ experience as an R & D Technician, Plant Quality Lab Technician, Material Test Operator or an equivalent is necessary. Plus, previous experience with analytical techniques is preferred.  Completion of an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field with laboratory completion or equivalent will also be considered.
