Organization Summary:
 

Since becoming an independent international organization in 2002, BBYO has built a powerful platform of professionals, volunteers and teens who are capable of delivering a wide menu of compelling experiences developed internally and with partners. The number of teen participants has tripled to more than 36,000, its national staff has grown to over 100 professionals, and its budget has grown to over to $20 million.  During the next five years BBYO will fully leverage this platform by offering clearly defined learning objectives, more program experiences, more opportunities to connect and more substantive tools to measure impact, ultimately sending a more passionate generation of young Jews to campus and young adulthood.

 

Overview:

The Nassau Region BBYO is a 55 year old program in the Nassau Suffolk area in Long Island.  There are over 2000 teens in grades 6-12 involved in the BBYO program with 1400 high school age members. As one of the largest regions in BBYO events range in size from 100 to 600 teens. The coordinator will work indirectly with the teens to execute their vision of events from a logistics standpoint. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

·       Coordinate logistics, from venues to transportation, food and marketing for events (conventions, community wide programs etc…).

·       Create an event planning process to track and monitor numerous projects at once.

·       Assist in marketing of events via social media and email.

·       Track budgets and reconcile actuals.

·       Update post-convention and event surveys.

 

The ideal candidate is extremely well organized and very adept at multi-tasking.  If available, the candidate will have the opportunity to assist with BBYO conventions and overnights.

 

Job Requirements:

Bachelors preferred but not required.

1-2 years experience in working with youth is preferred.

 

Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, social media and ability to adapt to various applications is required. Applicants must have the ability to work independently and possess entrepreneurial spirit.  Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication and presentation skills; ability to make discretionary decisions; ability to relate to middle school teens and their parents, highly organized, detail oriented, and possesses excellent customer service skills.  Consistent and timely follow up to emails and phone calls is a must.

 

This position is part time (15 hours a week) based at the Mid-Island JCC in Plainview, Long Island. Hours are flexible and include some evenings and weekends.
