Job Description

 

Position Purpose:

 

The position is an integral part of proactive culture to serve the needs of the business and the customer.  This position will interact and coordinate efforts with other departments to deliver strategic projects, contract specific requirements and various mechanical design deliverables: including failure analysis, manufacturing and sales support.  The position will identify, initiate and drive strategic projects, which focus on improved competiveness and efficiency gains.  Contract specific requirements include, but are not limited to   designs, drawings, calculations, bills of material and other documentation.

 

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage SBA Design Drafter position(s).
  2. Identify and execute SBA Engineering projects to improve competitiveness and efficiency.
  3. Maintain the technical expertise and perform ASME code calculations with various techniques including Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  4. Work with Schmidt-Bretten’s German engineering resources as needed to leverage global experience and know how.
  5. Design non-standard PHE’s.
  6. Create assembly and parts drawings for non-standard PHE’s.
  7. Maintain standards and support engineering features of SBA’s configuration software.
  8. Additional responsibilities
    1. Develop PHE BOM’s and upload into MRP system.
    2. Create parts for new PHE models.
    3. Lead value added engineering initiatives to reduce manufacturing costs.
    4. Support PHE Sales efforts, Manufacturing and Purchasing.

Education and Experience:

  1. BS in Engineering required.
  2. Professional Engineering License preferred
  3. 3+ years of ASME code pressure vessel, mechanical design and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience required.
  4. Heat exchanger experience preferred
  5. AutoCAD and Solid Works experience required.
  6. Project Management experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Must be able to effectively use a computer with all its components for prolonged periods of time and for the majority of required tasks.
  2. Must be able to effectively utilize office equipment (phone, computer, fax machine, printer, copier, filing cabinet).
  3. Must be able to work in an office environment.

 

 

Travel:

  1. Travel requirements to be minimal (<10%).
