Job Description

Carlisle Construction Materials, a worldwide manufacturer of premium building products and related technology, has an immediate opening for a Sales Manager.   The ideal candidate will be located in Toronto however candidates residing outside the GTA will be considered.    This Sales Manager position will manage the daily responsibilities associated with the sales of these products across Canada.  The Sales Manager is also responsible for the direction and management of manufacturer’s representatives, distributers and sales personnel to ensure achievement of sales objectives.

An estimated 50% overnight travel is required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage and direct the sales efforts of the manufacturer's representatives and distributors to ensure their efforts are in compliance with the annual operating plan.  This duty requires considerable travel to meet personally with reps and distributors to promote Carlisle Syntec, its products and programs to all levels of the rep’s and distributor’s organization.
  • Create and implement Market Development Plans.  These plans will be developed in conjunction with the reps and distributors to ensure that the Carlisle’s sales plan and objectives are clearly communicated.
  • Set and execute strategic goals, including product launches and region-specific/product specific sales focus.
  • Create promotional strategies to increase sales.
  • Deliver project-specific support to installers and design professionals to assure effective specification and delivery of systems
  • Call on building owners, architects and consultants, as well as perform call and seminars to educate them on Carlisle’s systems and products.   
  • Interface with other company departments to achieve sales objectives.  This includes field problem solving and negotiating to satisfy company and customer objectives, which may conflict. Consistently report market information and deliver feedback to departments. This will include such things as market conditions, competitive pricing and programs. 
  • Provide management with written correspondence and monthly reports


A  Bachelor’s degree in general business, sales/marketing, construction management or a related field is required, along with at least five (5) years’ experience in a sales environment within the roofing/construction industry.  Experience with commercial roofing products, is highly preferred.  A minimum of two (2) years’ experience managing people, either company employed persons or manufacturers' representative/distributor personnel is also preferred.
