As a Linux Systems Administrator at Go Daddy, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining reliable, scalable and secure CentOS servers for several product lines and core internal Linux infrastructure. The position will require an excellent understanding of common application topologies (LAMP, 3-tier applications, etc.), configuration management and experience with a large scale environment. The ideal candidate will be a proven technical leader with solid operating system administration skills and the ability to maintain a positive attitude while working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

In this role, you will:

  • Support our corporate Linux Applications
  • Support of several proprietary applications built on top of either tomcat or LAMP, DNS systems running BIND and other technologies.
  • Work closely with Development and Engineering teams achieve the utmost product availability and reliability.

 

Do you have what it takes?

  • 2-3 years experience as a Linux System Administrator
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience with large complex operating environments
  • Outstanding customer service and interaction skills, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to plan, document, and effectively implement projects and systems
  • Must work well under sustained pressure
  • CentOS or Red Hat Enterprise Linux equivalent experience
  • Apache HTTP Server
  • Scripting (basic shell/Bash at minimum; Python, Ruby and/or Perl are big plusses) 
  • Excellent knowledge of Linux and web server security
  • Excellent understanding of DNS
  • Basic familiarity with how networks work and how to configure networking on a Linux system (are you familiar with the OSI networking model? tcpdump?)
  • Experience managing large server environments (hundreds of servers)
  • Basic understanding of SSLs and how they work

  • Previous 24x7 on-call experience preferred

  • RHN/Satellite/Spacewalk
  • Puppet
  • Koji
  • Splunk/Graphite
  • MySQL/PostgreSQL
  • LDAP/Kerberos authentication against Microsoft Active Directory
  • SAN and NAS technologies (iSCSI, FCP, CIFS, NFS, etc)
  • Java/Tomcat/JBoss
  • RHCT or RHCE a big plus
  • PKI
