JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for General Accounting functions at Lanyon.  The position will oversee the timely monthly close of the General Ledger, inclusive of all accounting entries and accruals; provide accounting / financial reporting; prepare monthly account reconciliations and analysis for Lanyon’s balance sheet accounts; prepare Cash flow reporting and forecasting; coordination and  provide information in support of the Audit and Tax preparation; development of and compliance with internal controls.  This is a full-time, permanent position, located in our Irving office.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain the company’s overall system of accounts, books, and records on all company transactions and assets
  • Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close cycles.
  • Record monthly journal entries, record month end accruals
  • Provide monthly account reconciliation and analysis for Balance Sheet accounts
  • Prepare cash tracking and cash flow forecasting
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxes and regulations.
  • Maintain, perform and update internal control procedures.
  • Assist the preparation of consolidated reports and other compliance reporting including audit.
  • Support / validation of monthly sales commission calculations
  • Ensure accurate and timely financials are in compliance with US GAAP and standards with adherence to tight controls; identifies any areas of concern in financials and escalates to CFO for resolution
  • Coordination and gathering of data for audit and tax preparation.

Skills/Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 3-5+ years of experience in various accounting roles. 
  • Strong and broad experience in accounting and ability to apply strong GAAP knowledge to business scenarios.
  • Customer service orientation and ability to successfully deal with questions and resolve issues.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work closely with various departments.
  • Absolute integrity and the use of good judgment to handle the confidential nature of duties, tasks and information.
  • Good time management skills; ability to meet critical deadlines.
  • Experience with software packages, Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to learn quickly.
