Home Remedy is 2,000 square feet of market and deli packed with ready to eat and prepared foods, grab n’ go, and beverages to make downtown living deliciously convenient Tom Douglas style.

     

Retail Cashier

Do you absolutely love great food and wine?  Are you the person who everyone goes to because you know a little bit about everything and if not, you can figure it out quickly?  If so, we’re looking for retail cashiers for our new store who have outstanding customer service and cash handling skills as well as an engaging personality and the ability to help the shopper find what they are looking for.  Equally important will be an eye for detail (you will be helping us with displays) and a dependable, efficient and focused work style.  

Summary

Help our customers with quick, gracious, efficient customer service using your complete knowledge of our retail store and supporting restaurants.  Your role will include maintaining the grocery space and displays, receiving, preparing and selling our goods all while maintaining a clean and orderly space.

 

Essential Functions

  • Warmly greets and acknowledge customers upon arrival.  Give them undivided attention and helping them make selections.
  • Effectively communicates and responds to food and beverage questions in an informative, friendly and enthusiastic manner.
  • Accurately takes customer orders and delivers drinks and food promptly and graciously.
  • Keep the floor swept and clean.
  • Maintain signage and check daily for accuracy.
  • Make sure our displays look amazing and well stocked by double checking out of date labels, cleaning shelves, rotating items and front-facing product.
  • Follows all safety and sanitation policies.
  • Correctly and precisely rings up each order.
  • Uses Point of Sale System correctly and effectively.
  • Performs all opening and closing side work as required.
  • Accurately, legibly and consistently prepares order forms for pre-orders.
  • Attend mandatory trainings and meetings.
  • Be ready and willing to assist other retail staff as needed.
  • Establishes and maintains good communication with all staff and customers.
  • Thank customers for their visit and invite them to return another time.
  • Prepares daily books and counts out bank at the end of the day.
  • Performs additional responsibilities, although not detailed, as requested by a manager at any time.

Skills/Requirements

Knowledge

  • High school diploma and at least 1-2 years in a high volume, customer service environment.  Previous grocery experience preferred.
  • Outstanding customer service skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Basic math skills
  • Follows all safety and sanitation policies.

  • English language and professional communications skills are required.
  • Ability to take direction

  • Ability to proactively sell product by sharing with customers what makes it special, where it comes from and why we love it.
  • Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure.
  • Must have problem-solving abilities, be self-motivated, and organized.
  • Commitment to gracious service and exceptional food and beverage knowledge.

 

Working Conditions

  • This position will spend 95% of the time standing and 5 percent of the time sitting.
  • Direct contact with customers, managers and employees.
  • Occasional environmental exposures to cold, heat and water.
  •  The individual must be able to transport up to 50 pounds on occasion and up to 35 pounds regularly.
